INSIDE THE CHURCH

The 10:15 a.m. weekly worship service consists of music, children’s time, prayer and the pastor’s sermon. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. All are welcome to participate.

Sunday School

Three adult classes meet each Sunday–a basic bible study (held in the Social Hall), short-term studies focusing on timely issues (held in the Multi-Purpose Room) and the New Spirits Class that engages in a variety of short-term studies that focus on spiritual formation (held downstairs, last room on the right).

Weekday Worship

In addition to Sunday services, Mount Zion also conducts Food and Faith Groups, Tuesday Morning Bible Study held at 10:30 a.m. in the Social Hall over coffee, Tuesday Evening Prayer and Praise held in sanctuary at 7:30 p.m., Men’s Bible Study at 8 a.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month in the Social Hall and two women’s groups—Women of Faith, which meets on Monday nights at 7 p.m., and the United Methodist Women, which meets periodically.

IN THE COMMUNITY & BEYOND

West Shore Mission

Mount Zion Church maintains a small food pantry that provides food on an emergency basis. Items are donated by church members. Mount Zion also distributes food to a small number of families from time to time.

We support the Children’s Center of Enola, play host to a Crochet Group that creates and distributes prayer lap covers, deliver packages of homemade Christmas cookies to the Carlisle Truck Stop Ministry, and provide financial and volunteer support to New Hope Ministries, a Christian social service agency that assist those in need with food, utilities, rent, housing, medical referrals, transportation, job fairs and life skill classes.

We also work with God’s Helping Hand, a local mission devoted to assisting low-income families with home repair and maintenance.

Harrisburg Mission

Mount Zion Church supports a variety of ministries in the City of Harrisburg, including making weekly bread runs, supporting the Thrifty Shopper consignment store, and providing funding and volunteer support to Bethesda Mission, Downtown Daily Bread, Harrisburg Uptown Urban Ministry and God’s Helping Hand, which assists low-income families with repair and maintenance services.

Henderson Settlement

Serving the Appalachian region of Kentucky, Henderson Settlement operates a school, residential childcare home, thrift stores, a senior center and craft shop and provides new mother support, agricultural instruction, community services and youth ministry. Mount Zion provides donations of Christmas gifts and financial support to the settlement.

In previous years, a team from Mount Zion Church traveled to Henderson Settlement to do home refurbishing and offer hands-on support. Check out the following link for pictures of Mount Zion in action: Kentucky Trip – 2015

Methodist Mountain Mission

The Methodist Mountain Mission has been serving the people of eastern Kentucky since 1943, operating eight opportunity stores around the state. Mount Zion collects used clothing and household items for the stores to sell at a reasonable price.
